SENKOS

The 115mm Coastal Senkos are the perfect lures for targeting ballan wrasse, although they will catch various other salt and freshwater. Rig these Senkos on the Texas rig and work them slowly by implementing small flicks followed by a three or four second pause around rough ground out to sea and through the gullies.

Although the darker colours are the preferred choice when targeting wrasse, there are some brighter colour options which are worth carrying in case you encounter murky water.

WRASSE STICKS

These 85mm Wrasse Sticks proved themselves to be a number 1 wrasse lure on their very first outing, taking 32 fish up to 5lb 5oz from a rock mark in South Cornwall.

Since then, numerous anglers have beaten their p.b. using this lure, either purchasing them separately or as a complete kit in the Wrasse Box.

These are available in 8 proven wrasse catching colours.

SLIM STICKS

These Coastal Slim Sticks are the same length as the Wrasse Sticks at 85mm but have a far thinner profile. They measure 5mm at each end and rise to 7mm in the centre.

These are great for days when the wrasse want a slimmer bait, plus they’ve also accounted for some big perch to the freshwater anglers.

These Sticks have been designed to be reversible, so when one end gets damaged, simply un-rig the lure and hook it at the other end.

These ideally suit a size 2 off-set hook, which are available below in packets of 5.

COASTAL CREATURE

The Coastal Creature is designed to replicate a small crustacean, a number 1 food source for ballan wrasse. Work these lures slowly around rough ground with several small flicks followed by a pause for a few seconds, letting the buoyant claws waft about enticingly in the flow. Although designed for wrasse, these lures will also take bass and freshwater species such as perch and chub.

Rig these on one of my size 1 off-set hooks, work them around rough ground or through gullies slowly with small flicks and pauses and hold on because the wrasse will hit them hard.

Coastal paddletail

The 100mm Coastal Paddletail is designed to replicate small species such as blennies and gobies, a staple food source of ballan wrasse, although they will catch various other salt and freshwater species, such as bass, pollack, zander, pike, trout and perch.

These lures have a hook slot in the belly which aids the rigging as well as giving a better hook set. They also produce a lively, natural swimming action, both on the drop and during the retrieve.
