APPROACHING AN AREA

Once I arrive at my chosen fishing spot (green dots), before I start casting out to sea, I’ll spend some time working lures along the red lines next to rocky ledges and through narrow gullies. I keep low and quiet on arrival to avoid spooking any fish and cover these areas before anything else, because quite often wrasse will be feeding very close in, even right under my feet in very shallow water.

A lot of my bigger wrasse have all come within a few yards out, either from a gulley or next to a ledge, in shallow, clear water.I only start casting out to sea once I’ve covered all these areas first.
