COMPONENTS:
20lb fluorocarbon leader;
Off-set hook;
Cone weight;
Glass bead.
Cut off a length of fluorocarbon leader approximately 3’ long.
Tie the hook onto the leader using a knot such as the palomer.
Next, add a glass bead.
Slide on the cone weight.
Tie the leader onto your braid with a knot such as a double-uni.
Hook size depends on the choice of lure. I use hooks between size 2 and 2/0, depending on the lure. The hook I’ve used here is a size 1, which is the perfect fit for the 85mm Wrasse Sticks.
Glass beads aren’t critical, but they do generate a clicking sound as the weight hits it, creating an additional attraction.
I use a 5g or 7g cone weight, but may go heavier if conditions dictate such as strong tides.
It’s important to nick the hook point into the top of the lure, ensuring it is weedless.
I’ll also tie several rigs and add them to rig winders, it makes things a lot easier if you need to re-rig.
